Our Impression:
Brufestbier is very special to us. It has consistently been one of our favorite beers of the year. Every year we look at this beer in a new light in relation to our process and malt knowledge. Having been to Oktoberfest and had enjoyed the style first hand, it's very evident that the US has a misconceived notion of what Oktoberfestbier is. In reality, it's a slightly stronger and fruitier helles. It's light in color and utilizes just a bit of Vienna Malt on top of a Pilsner grain bill. While the original representation is a lovely beer, we truly enjoy brewing a maltier and more colorful version. Being in Colorado and seeing the seasons change after exceptionally hot summers, we are induced with the mental craving for a well crafted malty lager. This version utilizes one malt, Vienna Malt, and a traditional double decoction method, with three months of cold lagering. Compared to previous years, this rendition is a touch less toasty, slightly fruitier, and perhaps a bit more drinkable. Prost and enjoy!!
