After our second trip to Belgium (January 2025), we were heavily inspired to brew a delicious cherry beer in the Belgian tradition. Specifically we loved the cherry dubbel from Achouffe. Massive cherry flavor from local cherries and a lovely malt body to carry the cherry forward. Make no mistake, these beers are essentially fruit juice. We used a rate of two pounds of cherries per gallon of beer, which although incredibly expensive, is the only way to attain the desired fruit character. This in our opinion, is the most epic presentation of fruit that we've been able to attain in one of our beers. We hope that you love it as much as we do!
Aroma: Cherry Pie, Toffee, Molasses, Mild Roast
Appearance: Pours dark ruby with a pink hued head.
Flavor: Big tart red cherry expands across the palate with acidity and sweetness in perfect balance. The dark malts come into play as the beer finishes, with subtle chocolate and mild roasted bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium-light, with medium carbonation.
