Winter Oats
Brues Alehouse Brewing Co
Our Inspiration:
In January 2024, we travelled to London to better understand English beer styles. Historically, English styles have never been an inspiration at Brues, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to infuse some of the brewing magic of our old British mates. We sat in old pubs and drank beer straight from the cask. We had bitters and ESBs, IPAs, and Milds! The truth is that the English beers we encountered were all quite average. Even from the coveted English brewery Fuller's, we failed to find anything worth reinterpreting or reproducing. The silver lining was that Ireland had every bar covered with delicious pints of Guinness Stout. Even England agrees that it's the best of the lot, given it's the highest selling beer across the country! So, long story short, our excitement in brewing delicious dark ales stems from our love of the famous Dublin stout!
Our Impression:
Winter Oats builds upon the foundation of a classic nitro stout, with added body and mouthfeel from the oats and overall malt content. It makes for a wonderful and nourishing stout in the colder months.
